Observatory
A brass and star-chart observatory. Six planets circle a sun in the middle of the playfield, each moved by its own shot. Line them all up and the moon slides across the sun for the Eclipse.
The planets
- Each planet has a shot: the pop bumpers move Mercury, the spinner Venus, the orbit Earth, the drop targets Mars, the telescope Jupiter and the S-K-Y lanes Saturn.
- The planet closest to lining up flashes, and the display names its shot.
- Three in line lights Meteor Shower at the sun, a multiball where every planet still out of line is lit.
The Eclipse
- All six in line lights the sun. Shoot it to start the Eclipse: the moon covers the sun, the table goes dark except for the lit shots and the glowing parts, and four balls are in play.
- Jackpots on the orbit, the telescope, the drop targets and the sun. Hit the moon twice to knock it aside and open the sun. Every third sun hit is a Supernova, worth 1,000,000.
Around the sun
- A gravity well pulls passing balls toward the sun.
- The orrery, a turntable round the sun carrying the inner planets, flings a rolling ball sideways. It turns faster as more planets line up.
- A third flipper, on the right side of the playfield, gives a second way up to the telescope.
Grand Tour
Two Supernovas in a later Eclipse light the Grand Tour: four balls, a stop at every planet from Mercury to Saturn, then the sun for 5,000,000.
